My 52-year-old husband had open heart surgery recently. He was in very serious condition when he was put in ICU after surgery. Nurse John went beyond what I would have expected anyone to do. Not only did he take excellent care of my husband, he always made sure I was ok. Always asking if I needed anything. He even took time to comfort me when he saw I needed it. He would ask if I was getting rest and eating and what could he do to help me through this. And, while doing this for me, he was taking awesome care of my husband. After watching John caring for my husband, it gave me a sense of relief because I knew this man was going to do everything possible to make sure my husband was always comfortable, not in pain, and was getting the best most compassionate gentle care possible.

When my husband was able to communicate, John took the time to know him as a person, not just a patient. He made my husband laugh and talked about hobbies with him. He showed a real interest and, believe it or not, that makes a big difference to people when they are scared and trying to deal with the reality of their situation. John sees that and uses his compassion to help ease our worry.

I have and will continue to tell everyone about our awesome experience we had with John. John is the best nurse we have ever encountered in our lives. He deserves recognition! I could write pages on how awesome we think he is but I’m out of room.
