We had a patient who was here for a very long time and did not have any family here with him, only close friends. The patient was not progressing, and it came time for the doctors and the patient's friends to make some difficult decisions together. On the day the friends and the patient's Godson decided to remove life support I overheard them talking about John. John was taking care of the patient and heard the friends talking about funeral plans and how they didn't have enough friends to be pallbearers. John immediately volunteered to step in to be a pallbearer. This was very special to the friends and meant so much to them. John always goes above and beyond for his patients and their families.
