John Hopwood is one of the kindest, most knowledgeable, compassionate, devoted, and holistically focused nurses I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Hospice requires a strong sense of direction and an even stronger heart. John is driven and committed to bringing an end to suffering and promoting wellness in a truly holistic sense. There is wellness for the patient and family in a peaceful, guided, and comfortable end to a precious life.
Through no fault of their own, most disciplines of nursing don't see that. John does and he is dedicated to educating patients and families in this regard. He gives patients treasured moments, laughter, smiles, and hope through the uncanny way he can discern how to best communicate with them and their loved ones. Nothing is out of the ordinary for John. If a patient or family needs it, he does everything he can to provide it. He is open to learning, teaching, and listening so he can do so.
