My dad was admitted. My mom met John, and he was nothing short of a hero and part of our family until my dad passed away this morning. He is the kindest, most compassionate, knowledgeable nurse we could have ever hoped for as we have gone through this shocking and awful time in my family's life.

When my mom asked John what it might be after he was admitted to the Emergency room and gave him background info, they spoke about the possibility of what it could be: an infection or his advanced stage of pulmonary fibrosis. What he said was, "I am not a doctor, but I am hoping it is an infection that can be resolved."

On Tuesday night it was my dad's 80th Birthday and John just listened to my dad's stories and talked about the Braves game that was on. My dad was 100% allert until the last night and he kept telling us how kind John was and how he made him feel safe and comfortable.

If I had a question, he was honest, and he was there immediately, making our family feel like Dad was his only patient. He stayed with us until the end, even though his shift was over 2 hours prior.

With tears in his eyes explaining the final process with us he, he made sure it was the most peaceful way for my dad to pass. John will forever be in my family's hearts.
