On April 21st, I was brought into Brackenridge via EMS. I was one patient out of many following a multiple car accident on I-35. My nurse, John, is someone I have known through Seton as I have been an employee here for 10 years. I was lucky to get someone I know. This wreck was the scariest thing I have ever been through. I was scared and in a lot of pain. John stayed by my side and comforted me, gave me pain medication, and notified my family (per my request) that I was at UMCB. The ER was flooded with patients from this massive accident. I could tell outside my room that it was very busy, however, inside my room John kept it calm and helped me to stay relaxed. The wreck occurred right before shift change. John is a day shift nurse, and I knew he would be going home soon. He told me the night shift crew was great, and that they would take care of me. However, what I didn't expect was when John came back to my room and said he was staying with me until my family arrived. I am forever grateful for his excellent care, and for staying by my side. Being alone, I know I would have felt so scared. He made sure I didn't have to feel that way. Excellent nursing care, John. I hope you will always remember the impact you made, because I know I always will. Thank you a million times.
