I was taken to a room where I was to recover and, hopefully, be sent home the next day. Everyone there was wonderful in their care, making me comfortable and relaxed, but one stood out, John Murphy. He came on sometime that evening, quickly earned my respect. I've never had a male RN and as I was still fairly helpless, I wasn't sure how I felt about it.
John's professionalism, combined with his easy-going manner, quickly put me at ease. His patience, kindness, and sense of humor made what could've been a long, uneasy night bearable, and I am forever grateful to him for his kindness and care. You have a real gem in this kind, intelligent young man. The entire staff, from the lovely woman who came to clean my room, to the Nurses and the PT's who were so kind and patient with my needs are all worthy of this award. That being said, John helped ease my anxiety and turned my embarrassment into easy laughter, sending me well on my way to healing.
