John Nightingale is such a shining star in his unit. During a staffing shortage on this unit, I was in awe of how pleasant, compassionate, and considerate John is. He is always patient-focused, caring, and compassionate with his patients taking the time to explain things to the patient and family. He goes over and beyond to assist the patients and ensures their needs are met. He is also always willing to assist his peers if needed. He takes the time to audit the patient's medications and orders from the pharmacy and meds needed for the oncoming shift. This small act is helpful to the nurse as well as the patient as it does not inconvenience the patient by having to wait an extended time to get a medication from the pharmacy.
I was elated to hear that a new employee was being precepted by John. I know the employee will be provided with everything they need to be successful on the unit, have a sense of empowerment, be well informed, have a sense of confidence in their work assignment, and most importantly, know how to be caring and compassionate to their patients. |
