It’s been almost 4 months now and the path has had many twists and turns, and somehow, John was always just around the bend when I was thinking of him or needed him the most.
John has truly helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel, assisting in making the best out of a truly “scary” situation and wound journey that has now surpassed 4 months in duration. This amazing nurse, truly a “ray of sunshine,” has been beside me when I needed him. It was a blessing, how the timing that brought us together, was perfect. It began one Monday in July when John came into my room for a wound consultation. Having had relatives who lost legs and toes from diabetes, I was really scared and didn’t want to lose my foot due to this wound. John was happy, encouraging, knowledgeable, and portrayed a confidence in wound care that I so desperately needed. Having been an RN myself for over 30 years, I genuinely was grateful for the way he shared information. He didn’t just assume I knew what was going on. After applying dressing to both ankles, he then explained to me that I was not alone on this path. John explained about the Wesley outpatient wound clinic, gave me brochures, and told me to call if I needed anything. This, to me, was priceless. It’s been almost 4 months now and the path has had many twists and turns, and somehow, John was always just around the bend when I was thinking of him or needed him the most. It didn’t matter the magnitude of what was going on, John cared unconditionally. I’m so thankful that this “ray of sunshine” entered my room that scary Monday morning in July and has been with me (or just around the corner) every step of the way, radiating his caring attitude and love of wound care.
