February 2015 Honoree
john stewart, RN BSN
On our first admission day in the ICU, we were very uncertain about what to expect. My husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor and was scheduled for surgery the next morning. John kept us informed on all tests and lab results. His bedside manner was impeccable. He got to know us personally. He made sure my three young children had markers and crayons to calm them. I am a nurse myself, and I have never been on the receiving end of being a patient family member. He did such a wonderful job that I felt he needed some recognition. We are 600 miles from home, and he made us feel like we had someone rooting for us and even following up with us after we were out of his care. His selection for the DAISY Award would be fitting, since he captures the essence of this award.
Thank you, John, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
