John was nominated by a former patient, who expressed the following: “I first met this nurse in the summer of 2018 and my only regret is that I have waited this long to tell our story. During my hospital stay, after several tests, the doctor informed me I had Stage 4 cancer. This nurse noticed it was my birthday when he asked for my name and birthdate prior to giving me meds. He said he was so sorry and asked if there was anything he could do. I said no but later he brought me a cupcake and told me Happy Birthday. Today, I met the person who made my day 3 years ago. It was very emotional for both of us. He has the biggest heart and a wonderful demeanor.”
