I watched this nurse take the time to work with a young girl who was not willing to take her medications in a normal setting. I watched him get down on the floor with her, pick her up, comfort her, and let her know that he was there to help her and give her the medications. As he comforted her, I saw her begin to relax and feel at ease. It was only after Johnathan knew that she felt safe and relaxed that he gave her the medications. He talked to her the entire time to reassure her. After she took her medications, he tucked her back into her bed, gave her a hug, and she was able to rest comfortably. I am a new nurse so to watch another nurse providing such excellent care was refreshing. It made me realize that taking those few extra minutes makes a difference.
