Johnna is a great role model for the nursing profession. She goes above and beyond as a nurse leader. She just recently completed her DNP. This is quite an accomplishment since we were in a pandemic at the time. The stress of being a nurse executive, a wife, a mom of 3, a nurse during a pandemic, and adding a DNP student to the list is a challenge she took on.

Johnna took her school work and looked at ways to improve patient care at St. Joe's. She worked with staff on better medication education and developed the teach-back method. Johnna has created an environment where nurses are encouraged to continue professional development. Johnna has also worked hard to get St. Joe's a pathway-designated hospital in 2020. The 2nd hospital in Illinois. She is currently working on the Pathways recertification. Johnna is always promoting nursing at SIH, from job fairs to social media, to going to the local high school. Johnna is very community-oriented oriented which is easily shown every September with our Apple Festival Display.

Johnna motivates the staff of St. Joe's with culture, positive reinforcement, thank you's, employee quarterly breakfasts, and recognizing all departments of the hospital, not just nursing. She has a shared vision of St. Joe's culture. This culture is why patients come here and why staff work here. Thank you for all your hard work, dedication, and all you do for St. Joe's. We are glad you took the leap of faith and came to St. Joe's.
