"Johnson was like a son to me when I was admitted to his unit." This was a patient's description of the Honoree. Through his close connection with patients, he compassionately uses singing to lift the mood of depressed patients going through terminal illnesses. He is an inspiration for most of his patients on their journey to wellness and is described by most of the patients as dedicated, friendly, welcoming, receptive, caring, respectful and responsive.

He was nominated by a patient who called him "That Compassionate Male Nurse, who I also felt was a father and brother to me when I was sick."
