Jolly Thomas 2025, RN-BC

My sister and I were visiting our dad, who is in the hospital at UW Montlake Medical Center. While every single nurse on the 4th floor was absolutely amazing, his nurse, Jolly, was especially special. She was kind, quiet, and quick to respond. One day we received the incredibly difficult news that my dad’s cancer is incurable, and she asked him how he was. She then patted his shoulder and let him talk and talk about how difficult this journey has been. She never interrupted and let him talk as long as he needed. She was so caring - my sister and I watched all this and sat crying quietly in the corner while Jolly and my dad had a very special moment. I can’t express what this meant not only to my dad but especially to my sister and me. To know that when we can’t be with my dad, Jolly would be there to comfort him.
