Jon is extremely compassionate and respectful to all of his patients and their families. A recent example of his commitment to patient care involved a trauma patient admitted to 4N following a terrible motorcycle accident. This patient was from California and was over 2,000 miles from home and her family. She and her husband both retired and had recently sold their home to travel the country in an RV. Unfortunately, while enjoying their Wisconsin tour, they went off the road and crashed. Her husband tragically did not survive. His wife was transferred to the Marshfield Medical Center and was placed on 4N with multiple broken bones. By the grace of God, Jon was assigned to this woman who lost the love of her life and was in a foreign hospital feeling lost and heartbroken.
Jon clearly saw that this patient not only needed physical nursing care but emotional care that he provided so lovingly. Jon stayed by her side until her family could come from California. He fielded multiple calls from family and friends as they heard the news. Jon cared for this patient for the next five days making an enormous difference in her life by being her family until her children could arrive. A card was sent to the unit from the sister of the patient Jon cared for and it stated, "Thank you for the amazing care you gave my sister. During her darkest time, you brought a ray of sunshine to us all. May your life be full of amazing moments."
Jon's integrity, the strength of his character, and dedication to his patients is highly respected by those who are fortunate enough to work with him.
