When I came to the emergency room, I was overwhelmed, scared, and trying to process that I had cancer for the third time at the age of 38. Everything felt uncertain, and I was terrified of what was ahead.

From the moment this nurse entered my room, he treated me with such kindness, compassion, and genuine care that made my fear begin to ease. He didn't just take care of me immediately with my medical needs, but he took care of me as a person. This nurse spoke to me with patience, listened without making me feel rushed, and had the most calming aura/presence. He used words that were reassuring and felt like they were coming from a very compassionate heart. This made me feel safe in his hands when I felt like giving up.

He even made me laugh, and I don't remember the last time I laughed since first being diagnosed four years ago.

I truly believe Nursing is more than giving medication or performing treatments. It's about caring for people when they need it the most. This nurse did exactly that. His kindness, empathy, professionalism, and compassion made a lasting difference in my life, and I will always remember how it made me feel during one of the darkest times of getting cancer again.

I can't think of anyone more deserving of a DAISY Award. He did more than promise excellent care; he gave me comfort, dignity, and hope when I was at my most frightened, and I will always remember the difference he made in my life.

Thank you, Jon.
