We arrived to the hospital with our son who has special needs and we were immediately greeted by Jon. Jon was attentive, helped to calm my nerves, and most importantly, helped to make our son feel safe and not scared. Jon treated our son with dignity and respect, something we always hope people will do, but sadly that isn’t always the case. He met our son at his level, explained things in a way that he could understand and you could tell he genuinely cared about our son and his well-being. He was so reassuring to both my husband and myself and took time to answer any questions we had. We had the opportunity to talk to him for a few minutes too and he shared that he was going to do a surprise visit to see his nephew who was in the process of picking up his service dog a few hours away. It was so nice to hear him talk about his nephew and the excitement of surprising him with a visit. You can tell that Jon was meant to be our son's nurse that night, not only to make him feel comfortable but also to make us feel at ease.

Jon is a fantastic representative of what excellent health care looks like. He is inclusive, accepting, caring, and willing to explain things in multiple ways to make sure the patient and the patient’s family members understand what is happening. He had a smile on his face the entire time and never made us feel like we were taking too much time with our questions.
