Jona Wilson is a nurse in the NBSCU at Yale New Haven Hospital. Jona’s story involves a very young mother of one of her patients. Jona developed a special connection with this mother. This trusting relationship lead Jona to learn that this Mom had very little family support and also a learning disability. With Jona’s care, encouragement and resources this Mom was able to enroll in a program to obtain her GED and pursue her dream to become a teacher. Even after the baby was discharged Jona continued her support and encouragement for the Mom to ensure she completed her dream. This is just one of many significant differences Jona makes in the lives of her patients families.
