I nominate Jonathan Katz from the ICU for the DIASY Award. Jon is an enthusiastic nurse, he is always willing to go out of his way to help others. A graduate from the TSON and CSE for his BSN in nursing, he exhibits a thirst for knowledge and an eagerness to advance himself professionally. He shows an extreme amount of patience with families and patients, taking the time to explain everything to them and doing everything he can to make them feel at ease.
One time Jon had taken care of a young man who unfortunately deteriorated quickly and passed. When the family came by the next day Jon made sure to take the time to talk with them and to let them know what he felt, and that he was sorry for their loss.
Jon is very much a team player. He can be in one side of the unit and would readily help out others on the opposite side, whether the task be little or big. Many a times I have had him assist me with transporting a patient to a procedure or test or transfer when the patient was not even his. Jon is always willing to help with a smile. He never shirks his responsibilities but embraces them.
Jon exemplifies the kind of person who the DAISY Award was meant for.
