I came into the ER and as soon as I saw John I noticed his calm and warm appearance. After all the tests, I knew I was fine but I felt icky. What I really needed was human connection and warmth. Literally and figuratively. I asked John if he would hold my hand and he said, "I'd love to". We had a sweet conversation about how love and human connection and touch are the most healing "medicines". I could feel my entire body relax and my nervous system return back to normal. It was his warm, calm kindness that helped soothe my "shock" more than anything. I admire John's capacity for calmness and human warmth. Thank you, John, for your warm, kind, gentle human touch!
