Joni has done so much for me during my stay. I will miss her very much.

Joni Santulli demonstrates the best clinical skill, caring, compassion, exemplary service and a dedicated commitment to excellence.
Joni has committed her life for caring for others.
Joni is a care giver by nature. Joni strives to take care of those around her-patients and staff alike. Joni's many years of experience with mental health nursing has allowed her to develop her role as a nurse, mentor, coworker, and friend. Joni has committed to seeking out the information that needs to better serve our community, whether it is patient focused or education that will help those she works with as an educator.
Joni is a natural leader. On many occasions, Joni has sought staff input and assistance on situations regarding patient centered care. Joni is also sought out by staff as teamwork is essential to the interventions and care provided to our patients.

Most recently we had a female patient who was with us a few months. This patient required many interventions on our floor earlier in her stay with us, as this patient was assaultive towards others. Like many other patients Joni has cared for, this particular patient required more team effort. As more frequent 1:1 time was required in order for this patient and other patients' care not to be affected around her. Joni lead by example in the most difficult situation and helped this patient become more comfortable with us. Joni went above and beyond to seek out what was the best thing we could do to make the patient feel safe and supported. By doing this, it allowed the nursing staff and medical case management the ability to find proper housing for this patient to re-enter the community.
Also during this time she served and cared for each and every other patient on her assignment by not missing an opportunity to care for them the same way. Joni has helped the staff again by leading by example while working as a team. Joni's interventions with this patient also helped staff with education on helping others in the future with similar issues.
Over the years, Joni has garnered my respect and admiration as a coworker and friend. Joni continues to look at these situations as a growth opportunity not just for her but for others. By doing this, Joni sets standards for those like me to follow. Joni not only lives the values and standards that MaineGeneral looks for, Joni lives the mission and vision of MaineGeneral Medical Center.
