Jordan was caring for an elderly woman with slight confusion who was placed in a room in the back of the ER. The patient was in tears because she felt isolated in the ER and isolated at home due to her illness. Jordan sat down and got to know her patient. Her patient expressed that her feelings of isolation were making her have depression and inhibiting her ability to heal. The patient told Jordan that her husband didn’t understand, and it was leading to arguments. Jordan sat down with her husband and explained the patient’s concerns. With Jordan’s help, she was able to have open dialogue with her husband and talk about a plan of care to meet both her physical and mental health needs. With Jordan’s help, the patient was open to staying in the hospital and doing homecare and rehab down the road.
