I was admitted to Mercy Hospital on November 17th, and during one of the hardest moments of my life, I was blessed with the best nurse I could have ever asked for—Jordan. I have sickle cell anemia, and recently I was diagnosed with AVN in my left hip. The pain was overwhelming, and despite telling the staff that the oxygen they were giving me wasn’t helping, it kept being administered. I felt unheard and ignored.
But Jordan stepped in for me in a way I will never forget. She listened—really listened—to what I was saying. She tracked down the medical team herself and advocated for me to be taken off a medication that wasn’t easing my pain. Because of her persistence and her genuine care, they finally switched me to PO morphine, which gave me the relief I desperately needed.
When they delivered the AVN diagnosis, I was heartbroken and confused. No one took the time to sit with me or explain what it meant. I felt completely alone in that moment—until Jordan walked in. She sat beside me, slowed everything down, and explained the diagnosis in a way I could understand. She answered my questions, comforted me, and helped me breathe through the fear I was feeling.

Thank you, Jordan, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
