This may seem like a small act of kindness, but it speaks volumes to who Jordan is as a person and a practitioner.
I have known Jordan for years now since he was an RN in the ED. His compassion back then in the ED is nothing compared to what it is now that he is a Nurse Practitioner with the PRMG group. You really have someone special here.
Over the past year, 5 Layfield has seen lots of COVID patients die and die alone; or our nursing staff being the hand they're holding instead of their families. Last night, we had a COVID+ patient on comfort care. The family of our patient chose not to come to visit him, as she didn't want that to be the last memory she had of her dad. She asked us to play music for him during the day, so we had our phones on Pandora playing the "90's Backyard BBQ" station, per the daughter's request for him. Around 6:30pm, I walked down the hall and saw Jordan gowning up to go into the patient's room.
Jordan was this patient's PCP. He said when he got the alert that he was passing, and was alone, he said "I told my wife I needed to come in and be with him because I didn't want him dying alone." He knew this patient very well from the office and went out of his way - above and beyond. Jordan sat with the patient and talked to him for over an hour last night. The patient wasn't responsive, but we knew he knew we were with him. This may seem like a small act of kindness, but it speaks volumes to who Jordan is as a person and a practitioner.
It meant a lot to me and my staff because it was nearing shift change, so it was the time that someone wouldn't be able to be in there with him. We were taking turns spending time with him yesterday thru-out the shift so he wasn't alone for a long period of time and we were relieved someone else was able to sit with him during the busy shift change since he was so close to passing.
Jordan is an asset to our community!
