I always enjoyed talking to Mrs. Jordan because she never made me feel alone within those four walls.
Mrs. Jordan’s presence is the one I always remember after being released from the hospital. At the hospital, I always got excited whenever she would be my nurse because I knew I would be taken care of. To me, the best nurse does not always have to boil down to the one who is constantly checking on me or always answering my calls. The best nurse is the one who takes the time to understand their patients. I always enjoyed talking to Mrs. Jordan because she never made me feel alone within those four walls. She would buy me food out of her own money. She would stay to talk with my mom and me even though she did not have to. One day we talked about my parents’ hometown in Mexico. Mrs. Jordan loves to travel with her family so we were persuading her to go visit. The next time we saw her she told us that her husband was looking at airplane tickets to visit my parents’ hometown. That was when I realized she truly listened and thought about the conversation we had together. Mrs. Jordan still keeps in touch with my family and asks how I am doing whenever she can. During my two-week stay at the hospital, I truly appreciated her being my nurse. It was extremely difficult for me to recover mentally and physically, but she made it better with her personality and understanding nature.
