I started as a brand-new nurse in the emergency room at the beginning of the year. As a novice nurse, the ER world was incredibly intimidating. You are forced to learn a lot very quickly. However, there is one person in particular whom I cannot forget and that continues to make a world of difference for me, her team, and ALL of her patients and that is why I want to recognize Jordan. There is not one specific incident, rather it is consistent where Jordan creates a healing environment with each and every one of her patients. In emergency medicine, often we find ourselves caught up in a moment, but Jordan always takes the lead in any situation she sees fit and has the ability to educate her patients and their family, flawlessly. Jordan creates a positive work environment every day where no team member feels shorted or that they cannot ask her for support. I do not exaggerate when I say that in every single patient interaction that I have seen, she has the right words and provides excellent patient education, and always refers to evidence-based practices. She comes in every day with a smile on her face and radiates positive energy. Every week her team will hear "great teamwork" or just "good work today team." And when someone messes up or needs extra help, she creates a safe space where she can patiently correct them or give constructive criticism. She is the epitome of what a leader should be, and I am so thankful to have her as a mentor during my first year here at LRH. I think I can speak for everyone here in the ED that Jordan is a true DAISY Nurse.
