She never made me feel like I was just another patient.
Jordan has been an absolute delight as my nurse. I brought myself into the ED with a new onset of paresthesia and was admitted to the floor. From the first night I had her as my nurse, she came in ready to help me with everything she had. She made sure I received the right meds and kept in contact with the doctor for anything I needed. She never made me feel like I was just another patient. The first night was everything to me, and by the time she was done helping me, I felt so at ease that I was able to sleep comfortably.
The second night I had her, I was so elated to know I’d be in good hands! This night I really wanted to take a walk on the unit to help with my leg pain. She was more than eager to grab me a walker and help me. She encouraged me! After my walk, I had a crying breakdown in my room and a mini panic attack, and she came in, comforted me, and sat down with me for 20 minutes just talking to me about life and just really listening to me. I felt like she was my therapist/nurse! The whole time we were conversing, she kept eye contact and was really receptive to my feelings. I needed that! This was my fifth day in the hospital, and that was the first time a nurse sat with me to calm down and just be there. I’m a nurse myself at UNMH, and just having her as my nurse really taught me a lot, even about myself. She truly exemplifies what a nurse should be! I really think she deserves this award. She made my stay so positive with the diagnosis I received. Thank you so much, Jordan! Keep it up. This is the type of nurse we patients need!
