June 2026 Honoree
Jordan Oeland, RN
Jordan has shown extraordinary compassion and excellence while caring for a patient who has been with us for over a month following a devastating spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed. In a setting defined by urgency and complexity, Jordan brings something rare: unwavering presence. Jordan doesn’t just manage tasks—she connects. She spends a remarkable amount of time at the bedside, patiently reading lips and using a letter board so the patient can express needs, frustrations, and fears when words are hard to form. She never rushes him. She makes sure he feels heard, valued, and seen. That kind of patience is not just a skill; it is a profound act of respect. What moved us most was how Jordan restored a sense of normalcy and hope. Yesterday, she coordinated the patient’s first trip outside in more than a month. To some, that might seem like a small thing. To him, it was everything—a moment of fresh air, dignity, and humanity. It is a memory none of us will forget. Jordan exemplifies what it means to be an ICU nurse. Her empathy, patience, advocacy, and genuine connection elevate the standard of care on our unit. She cares for the whole person—body and spirit—and in doing so, she brings healing where it’s needed most.
Thank you, Jordan, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
