On top of everything else, they both showed great kindness and patience to the young children as they said goodbye to their daddy for the last time, taking the time to talk to them and hold their little hands as they faced a moment they would remember for the rest of their lives.
These two nurses went above and beyond for a patient and the patient’s family during an unimaginably difficult situation. The patient unexpectedly passed away after being found down at home by his young wife, who had four small children and a new baby on the way. The patient did not have brain activity after this event, and the family selflessly decided on organ donation. The conversations with this young, pregnant mother and her family were incredibly difficult. Both RNs were present every step of the way to ensure the family was informed and comforted while making these tough decisions. From Jordan staying over for hours after her night shift to Baylee staying right by the wife’s side, they truly exemplified what it means to be a nurse.
On top of everything else, they both showed great kindness and patience to the young children as they said goodbye to their daddy for the last time, taking the time to talk to them and hold their little hands as they faced a moment they would remember for the rest of their lives. I don’t think they will ever forget their nurses. This kind of situation was tough to navigate, and they both showed remarkable compassion throughout. Their actions didn’t end here; they arranged for items to be donated to the young mother, who was completely unprepared to bring a new baby into the world after facing the loss of her husband. I know that I speak for myself and our entire unit when I say that their actions have inspired us all.
