Jordan happened to overhear this conversation between the patient and her mother and immediately called one of the PCAs to make the situation better for the patient.
One night in the emergency department, we had a patient come in with a medical condition that required a CT scan. Jordan happened to be the nurse of this patient and went down to accompany the patient for her CT scan as per the usual procedure. While in the imaging department, the patient had lost her tooth right before getting her scan. The little girl was very upset about being in the hospital that night and was so afraid that the "tooth fairy" would not come to visit/gift her for her tooth loss.
Jordan happened to overhear this conversation between the patient and her mother and immediately called one of the PCAs to make the situation better for the patient. Jordan arranged for a small gift/prize to be hidden under the patient's pillow in the emergency department along with a note from the "tooth fairy" that way the patient wouldn't think the "tooth fairy" forgot about her while staying in the hospital. The patient then returned back to the emergency department from the CT imaging and to her surprise found her gift from the "tooth fairy". The patient was overjoyed with excitement and happiness and her mood about staying in the hospital immediately changed after this encounter.
In fact, after this surprise, the patient smiled all night and was proud to show every employee who walked in her "tooth fairy" gift! It was so sweet of Jordan to think of this surprise idea and it truly shows how much she cares not only for the nursing care of the children but for their comfort care as well! You can tell she truly is there for the kids and loves her job. Thanks, Jordan for making this patient's night one she won't forget!
