After our mother suffered a stroke, she was taken to Swedish ER in Issaquah. Her nurse that evening in the ER was Jordan Stewart. Jordan was so knowledgeable, attentive, and kind. He took the time to listen to our mother's concerns and was very patient as she answered his questions. He saw to her needs in a timely and compassionate manner. Earlier that evening, her doctor decided to admit her to the hospital for further observation and testing. As the night progressed, it started to become apparent that no bed or staffing might be available for this to take place. In case that continued to be the situation, Jordan offered to find a more comfortable bed for our mother, set her up with a Pure Wick device so she did not have to get out of bed and could rest safely and more comfortably, offered to get her something to eat and searched for a remote for the TV to take her mind off her worries. When no remote was available, Jordan put on a calming channel called The Window Channel and it was absolutely perfect! It helped her relax and distracted her from her situation. In addition, he knew my mother was concerned about me staying the night, so he brought me a more comfortable chair, a pillow and a blanket, which given the fact that I was not a patient was so very kind and thoughtful. I sincerely shared with him that I hoped they would not move my mother that night because I trusted and appreciated him and felt reassured that she was in good hands. All these actions and many more are why our family believes that Jordan went above and beyond to provide our mother excellent care and ease our mother's and our family's concerns during a difficult time. Our family has spent a lot of time in hospitals and had excellent care providers, but Jordan stands out above them all! We highly recommend Jordan Stewart for the DAISY Award.
