My mother was admitted to C5 at THOCC. Just one week prior my mother learned of her new diagnosis of AML, Acute Myeloma Leukemia. On that day, she was told she would have to stay in the hospital for 30 days. Leaving my mother every day was a challenge. We were entering a world of unknowns. We didn't know how she would feel, what would happen day to day, we didn't know the people who we were leaving our mother/wife with. Then we met the staff on C5 at THOCC New Britain. Jordyn Procko walked into my mother's room and into our hearts the day we met her. We found Jordyn to be a positive light in a dark and horrible time in our lives. She brought laughter and happiness to my mother's room every day she cared for her. Our family was confident that our mother would be in good spirits when Jordyn was her nurse. Jordyn's confidence and knowledge are above and beyond our expectation as a patient/family. She is without a doubt where she is supposed to be. She is made to be an oncology nurse. Her compassion, knowledge of chemo and happy spirit set my family at ease. She exudes love for what she does every day. Jordyn has become very special to me and my family. She continues to follow us through our journey at Sloan Kettering while my mother receives her Stem Cell Transplant. When my mother is down and out, Jordyn will facetime her to cheer her up. Her ability to make her patients feel special is a gift. We would like to thank you for providing us with her gift as she cared for my mother. As an employee at THOCC, I am proud to say that I work for a hospital that provides the best care to our patients, and with nurses like Jordyn, I can assure you that we are providing the absolute best. Jordyn will forever be special to our family with everything she has done for us. She has made an enormous difference in my mother's life and our family's lives.
