December 2024 Honoree
Jordyn Ward, BSN, RN
Jordyn was so friendly and professional without being stiff. She put my daughter and me at ease when explaining new procedures. She really listened to me (the mom) and took my concerns into account when helping make decisions in my daughter’s pain management. She even made an “award” when she learned my daughter was missing her volleyball award assembly because of her surgery. That meant so much to my daughter, but especially to me. She even made a rootbeer float (slushy with ice cream) to celebrate that it was also my birthday.
We knew that our concerns were heard with Jordyn. She demonstrated that many times, I would request information on a medication or suggest that we try something else. When my daughter started having nightmares on a new medication, Jordyn listened to the whole dream and was so compassionate and caring. She made sure to talk to the team about other possible meds that could still control pain but hopefully not cause nightmares. Nightmares aren’t life-threatening, but it means so much to know that if there is something that can be done to make a patient more comfortable, then Jordyn would do all she could to help it happen.
We have been so impressed by all of the staff here at Primary Children’s. I always try to improve places when I go somewhere, and I couldn't even think of ways to improve our stay. Everything was already considered and accommodated. We are so grateful to have such a great facility that is so well maintained with staff that are well trained and really do care about the patients and their family that they come into contact with.

Thank you, Jordyn, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
