Joscelyn truly has a gift as a healer, and her patients are so lucky to have a nurse as dedicated and passionate as her.
My mother was a patient at Inspira Mullica Hill on the fourth floor for a long, hard month. Fighting against multiple chronic illnesses, and dealing with an aggressive septic infection, she and my family were scared beyond belief. As the infection grew, my mother was taken for different surgeries and tests. She was being visited by a revolving door of doctors and specialists, and the endless poking and prodding took a toll on her as each day passed. The nursing staff was wonderful. All of the nurses on the 4th floor were fantastic, and each brought a unique style of care.

Joscelyn entered my mother’s team a couple days into her stay, and she never really left. She quickly went from another dedicated nurse to being a blessing and an angel. Joscelyn went above and beyond in everything she did. She spent hours in my mother’s room, answering every single question or concern that she had. She even took the time to gently lotion her legs, doing all she could to help with the pain. She tracked down the doctors, making sure they got up and saw my mother when needed. But most of all, she was a much-needed friend to my mother in her time of need. For myself and my aunt, who spend most of our time at the hospital with my mom, Joscelyn was an advocate who gave us the answers we needed. If the doctors could not give us a straight answer, Joscelyn did her best to explain. If we needed a shoulder of support, she was there holding our hand. And if we looked like zombies who had not showered in days, she was the one that told us it was time to go to bed, and that everything would still be okay in the morning.

The end of my mother’s stay was not the outcome that we thought it would be. After a about month of fighting in the hospital, the decision was made for her to come home on hospice. Even though my mother was no longer her patient, Joscelyn went out of her way after her shift had ended to come see us. Together, we all cried, and my mother wanted her to know something that couldn’t be more true: Joscelyn truly has a gift as a healer, and her patients are so lucky to have a nurse as dedicated and passionate as her. I want to personally thank Joscelyn, for the time she spent with my mother, and for the profound impact, she made on her life during such a difficult time. As a nursing student myself, I look up to her, and can only aspire to be like her in the future. She truly is a DAISY Nurse.

If I had any questions, Joscelyn took the time to answer them, even if she had to stay longer in my room to talk to me. When I was scared or in a lot of pain she calmed me down and made me feel like I was not alone. It was always a good day when I found out she was my nurse, and I hope she continues to use her talent and help others in the future.

Joscelyn has gone above and beyond in every single one of her actions for her patient's care. From the beginning, she was comforting and caring. She took the extra step to make sure the patient understood everything that was going on - such as calling the doctors multiple times if needed. Even if all she could do sometimes was make her smile, we know it truly helped the patient to have someone who wasn’t just her nurse, but was also a friend. She was a great comfort to us as a family and made sure we were included in care and decisions. She is truly an amazing nurse, and we are so lucky she was there.
