For several nights, our nurse and charge nurse was Jose, who exhibited the qualities that every nurse should provide to all patients. Jose was always courteous, precise, and timely; he asked pertinent questions, listened attentively, gathered information to enhance treatment, and consistently demonstrated both empathy and sympathy. One particular night, my husband experienced an unexpected and severe seizure that terrified me. I observed unusual symptoms that Jose acknowledged, rather than ignoring them. He made a crucial difference by calling staff from various departments to assist my husband during the episode. Jose's swift actions helped my husband through the seizure and prevented his condition from deteriorating. He consistently asked if there was anything he could do for me, which I found surprising given all his efforts for my husband.
