I couldn’t help it and continued crying; I let out all my frustration and worries. Besides listening to me, Jose shared some of his stories and helped me process my grief. His compassionate care had a positive influence on my recovery.
I was admitted to the hospital and underwent a lot of pain. Once the nurse came on shift, he became very proactive in controlling my pain. The nurse contacted the provider several times and insisted on pain medication adjustment to better help me. The nurse responded promptly to every call I made to the nurse station. The nurse never exhibited annoyance at my repeated calls for assistance; instead, the nurse demonstrated a willingness to help, always smiling. The nurse displayed excellent bedside manners and listening skills. The nurse showed not only that he could do the job well but that he genuinely cared. This nurse is an admirable representation of Navy Medicine. Thanks for all you do.

Overall, I am delighted with the care received during the delivery of my baby in the MSW. The nurses and corpsmen were terrific, and I greatly appreciate their help. I want to nominate one of my nurses for the DAISY Award for the care provided. This nurse was attentive, approachable, and empathetic with all I was going through. At times, I thought I was probably too needy or annoying, but the nurse made me feel like I was not a burden on anyone.
The nurse was overwhelmed with happiness and a positive attitude, setting an encouraging vibe in our room. The nurse never showed any signs of irritation due to our constant requests for help. The nurse always responded to the calls fast and with enthusiasm. My husband had to leave for a few hours at some point, and I wanted something from the NEX. When the nurse finished the shift, he went to the NEX and got what I needed. All these little things helped my stay in the hospital. I think this nurse is defined by the actions and not by a title or position; he inspires and influences corpsmen to be great at whatever they want to do. I always saw the nurse interacting with the corpsmen with so much kindness that they seemed to be his kids. To my nurse and the entire MSW team, I sincerely thank you.

I would like to nominate this nurse for the DAISY award. A few months ago, I had a miscarriage five days after my husband deployed. I had no friends or family in the area and felt very alone. I had to come to the hospital for a procedure. I did my best to be strong throughout this horrible time of my life. I knew I hadn’t had time to let my frustration out, perhaps because I didn’t have anyone then. When I arrived at the APU, I was welcomed by a nurse. After getting ready for the OR, the nurse came to check on me and found me crying. The nurse sat next to me and asked what was wrong. I couldn’t help it and continued crying; I let out all my frustration and worries. Besides listening to me, the nurse shared some of his stories and helped me process my grief. I want to express my gratitude to this nurse for allowing me to talk and vent my internal pain. His compassionate care had a positive influence on my recovery. Nurses can make a substantial difference in someone’s experience with simple acts. I can’t thank you enough for being there for me when times were tough. God bless your soul.

Many thanks to the nurse for taking care of us. My husband was admitted to the hospital in the MSW, and I am so grateful for the excellent care he received. The entire team was phenomenal and treated us like royalty. I want to nominate one nurse for comforting and supporting us in alleviating our anxiety. The nurse always checked on us and made sure we were ok. I appreciate that the nurse not only checked on my husband but also with me, who wasn’t even a patient. Thanks to the nurse for the long chats that distracted us, for listening, and for the interest in our lives. Thanks for your hard work.
Note: This is Jose's 2nd DAISY Award!
