Joey is a phenomenal Nurse Practitioner! He took the time to listen to every concern that our son had while in the TSICU a second time. My son had a TBI and is in a severe manic episode. Joey was kind, patient, and caring while our son ranted at him. He made our son feel seen and heard in a way that I honestly didn’t have the patience for! He was better with him than we are.

When my son was discharged from the ICU and hospital, Joey took the time to make him a card and have all the nurses sign it. My 28-year-old son was so touched by the gesture that he cried. This, this right here, is what makes a good nurse a great one! It’s not the medical procedures; any nurse can give meds and adjust IVs. It’s the compassion and obvious caring of one individual who can make someone feel seen at a time when they are, all intents and purposes, powerless.
