Joseph Cantu is a registered nurse (RN) who practices on the Medical unit. Joseph is being honored with the DAISY Award for going above and beyond for the patients and families he cares for. Joseph is described as being awesome and very caring to his patients.



In one particular situation, Joseph was commended for finding answers to the many questions the patient had. The patient stated he was feeling depressed and Joseph spent extra time with him talking and visiting. The patient also stated that Joseph treated him like family and went above and beyond to care for him. He stated that "if you could clone an RN, Joseph Cantu is the perfect model" and that he would "be happy to call Joseph his friend".



Joseph is described by his peers as having a positive attitude and being cheerful all the time. He is known for being a go-getter and is always willing to help his team members. They noted that Joseph is an awesome nurse who truly cares for his patients.



Because of Joseph's compassionate and caring efforts, his patients experience a level of care that exemplifies the impact nurses have in creating an environment where patients and families feel at home.
