The patient separated, had traumatic paralysis, and was being rushed to the emergency department. The patient was coming in and had to go straight to surgery. The patient’s wife was unaware as she was on a Cub Scout camping trip with her young son, and without self-service, the patient wasn’t able to manipulate his phone. John, with the patient's assistance, was able to navigate the patient’s phone to his WhatsApp group chat with the camping trip, contact some members of the chat that had stayed behind, and send them to fetch the wife and inform her of what was going on.

In the meantime, Joe was able to contact the patient’s young adult daughter, and with the patient’s permission, he updated her of the situation so she could fill her mom in since he would be in surgery before anyone reached her. Although pressed for time, Joe was patient and thorough, making sure he answered all of her questions and provided her with reassurance. I was very proud to work with these gentlemen that day.
