Joseph Snyder, BSN
Joseph has been an exceptional nurse for my mother and our family during a very difficult time. My mother was admitted to the ICU with sepsis and was very sick. Today marks her third day in the ICU, and we were fortunate to have Joseph as her nurse. Although my mom has improved enough to be transferred to the intermediate floor today, Joseph’s compassion, professionalism, and dedication have made an incredible impact on us.
From the moment he began caring for my mother, Joseph treated her with kindness, respect, and genuine concern. He took the time to explain what was happening, answered our many questions with patience, and helped ease the fear and uncertainty that comes with having a loved one critically ill in the ICU. He never made us feel like a burden and always made sure both my mother and our family felt heard and supported. What stood out to me most was that Joseph not only cared for my mother, but he cared for me as well. Throughout his shift, he consistently checked in to ask if I needed anything and reminded me that he was there to help me too. During a time when I was exhausted, worried, and overwhelmed, his kindness and support meant more than I could put into words. He recognized that critical illness affects the entire family and made sure I felt seen, supported, and cared for during one of the hardest moments. Even on a day when my mom was improving and preparing to leave the ICU, Joseph continued to provide the same level of attentive and compassionate care.
His calm demeanor, reassuring presence, and commitment to his patients reminded us that nursing is so much more than administering medications and monitoring vital signs - it’s about caring for people during their most vulnerable moments. Our family will never forget the difference Joseph made during this frightening time. Because of his kindness, empathy, and outstanding care, I believe he is truly deserving of the DAISY Award. Thank you, Joseph, for treating my mother as if she were your own family and for bringing comfort, hope, and compassion to us when we needed it most. You are an exceptional nurse!
