November 2021 Honoree
Joseph Timmerman, RN
Joe was charge nurse and we had a patient who had an MI and was actively infracting. The Medical team on rounds had no plan to call the Cath lab in on the weekend. Joe defended his position to the attending physician. Still, Joe advocated for the patient, stood up to the MD team, and the Cath lab was called in. During catheterization, the team noted the patient was much worse off than they thought. An IABP was installed and the patient was transferred to MUSC to receive the appropriate level of care he needed.
Thank you, Joseph, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
