Joe has the ability to diffuse even the most difficult patients, maintaining composure despite the patient's escalating agitation. He picks up on subtle changes in behaviors and addresses patient concerns/issues before they result in disruptive behavior.
For example, we had an extremely difficult patient at our inpatient behavioral unit. As usual, Joe worked diligently to establish a therapeutic bond with this individual and worked closely with the physician and nursing leadership to involve the patient in establishing obtainable behavioral goals. He did so with his usual nonjudgmental approach.
The amazing thing is that Joe engages with every patient in a calm, caring, and supportive manner. He perceives all patient care as a team effort and jumps in to assist techs with any and all tasks to make patients feel that they are worthwhile and important. Mr. Yednock is a true DAISY Nurse and observing him in practice instills a sense of pride in being a nurse.
