I would like to recognize Josh for the incredible care and compassion he showed me during one of the most vulnerable moments I have ever experienced.
What started as an emergency response call at work quickly escalated into a cart call, and within moments, I went from being the caregiver to the patient. I was rushed from my unit to the emergency department, overwhelmed, scared, and completely out of my element. In the middle of all of that, Josh was a steady presence.
From the moment I arrived, he treated me with patience, kindness, and genuine compassion. He spoke to me in a way that helped calm my anxiety, took the time to explain what was happening, and made sure I felt safe and cared for every step of the way. He never made me feel rushed or dismissed, even though I know how busy the emergency department can be.
As someone who works in healthcare, it is not easy to be on the other side, but Josh made that transition a little less frightening. He reminded me what nursing is truly about, not just skill and knowledge, but humanity, empathy, and presence.
Because of him, what could have been an even more traumatic experience was made more manageable. I will always remember the way he showed up for me when I needed it most.
