We were never left in the dark wondering what would come next, which eased our anxiety. We felt safe under his care.
There are not many opportunities that one gets to make an impact on people's lives. A simple sweet smile, a kind gesture, making someone laugh when their dignity is lost, and giving reassurance that everything will be "ok" to the person struggling (and to the loved one watching that person struggle) can inspire someone to keep fighting for a better health outcome. Josh provided all these things to help my mom through her recovery. In addition, he listened and answered our questions. When he didn't know the answer (which was seldom), he would follow up with the doctors to relay the correct info to us. Once, when the doctors were on their rounds and didn't stop into our room, he took the time to ask them to visit us before they left because he knew we wanted to talk with them. We were never left in the dark wondering what would come next, which eased our anxiety. We felt safe under his care. When my mom had an emergency situation (fluid accumulation in the lungs that blocked her breathing) and the younger nurse that was present at the time seemed a bit shocked, not knowing what exactly to do, Josh kindly stepped in and helped her gather a team of professionals to get my mother breathing again. The timing of this was crucial because, without this emergency action, this situation might have spun out of control. Josh's professionalism, empathy, knowledge, and dedication to his profession should not go unnoticed, and this is why I am thrilled to nominate him for this special award. I am sure we are just one of many whose lives have been positively touched by his high-quality, compassionate care.
