Josh spoke to a patient who was depressed, had given up, and refused all medical treatments. Josh took time out of his day to speak empathetically and at length with the patient during his night shift.

The next day, when we re-assessed the patient, he seemed completely turned around, was open to medical therapies, said it was the first day of the rest of his life, and said the conversation he had with Josh was one of the most significant conversations he had ever had in his life.
