The first day, I had severe anaphylaxis after taking a platelet drug following a double stent heart procedure. It was extremely frightening. There were at one time (counted by my husband) 15 nurses or doctors in the room. Josh kept holding my hand, reassured me that everything would be ok, and helped me avoid major panic. Later, as my nurse, he was always attentive.

When I returned after a week out with yet another reaction, he was my nurse again. After 20 days in the hospital, they could not get my medication. I broke down in tears and frustration. It sounds silly, but he asked me if he could get me anything. I wanted a Coke, a cola drink brand that the hospital did not have. He came back with one from lunch that he had brought from home. He relentlessly tracked down pharmacies to find medication that was not available in Austin. He was super compassionate and uplifting.
