I just wanted to let you know that Joshua from PACU was on his way to break today, backpack and all. He heard a noise and observed a person, a visitor who had passed out. The visitor came out of it and was ready to be on his way, however, Joshua stayed with him through a second episode. The visitor did not want to go to the ED and was adamant about visiting the wife, a patient. When I arrived to OHVI 5 as the Rapid Response Nurse, Joshua had remained with the visitor. The visitor was not very cooperative and did not want to be taken care of. He finally agreed to go to the ED after visiting his wife. Joshua stayed with the gentleman until he was able to speak directly to the ED triage nurse and assist in checking him in. He could have easily left the situation, however, he felt that it was in the best interest of the patient that he stay with him. This was above and beyond to stay and assure that the gentleman was safe and that he received the care he needed.
