December 2025 Honoree
Joshua Whaley
During a particularly busy clinical rotation, one of our patients became anxious and upset after a difficult procedure. While many students were focused on completing their assigned tasks, Joshua noticed the patient’s distress right away. Without hesitation, he set aside what he was doing, pulled up a chair, and sat with the patient. He calmly reassured them, explained each step of care in simple terms, and provided comfort until the patient felt at ease.
What stood out was not just Joshua’s compassion, but his initiative. He gently guided classmates to help reposition the patient more comfortably and reminded us to slow down and consider the patient’s emotional needs, not just their physical care. His actions not only calmed the patient but also set the tone for the rest of the team. That day, Joshua showed what it means to be proactive, compassionate, and committed to caring for both patients and peers.

Thank you, Joshua, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
