Two days ago, my coworkers went above and beyond helping a single Mom who brought her baby to the ER along with 2 other children via bus. When it was time to discharge the patient, the bus line had already made its last stop for the evening but not before these nurses loaded up the kids in a ER wagon and quickly escorted the family to the bus stop but it was too late. Trying to come up with a plan to safely get this family home had its challenges as Mom did not have much money or support.

Eventually, they sent the patient’s Mom money via VENMO to see if a friend could come to get her and the kids if the person was paid. Not long after, the mom and the kids were on their way home. Mind you, it was around 1 am by this time and the next bus was not until 4 am. We were prepared to keep the family safe until 4 am. The patient’s Mom sent one of the nurses a message through VENMO thanking them for not just being "good nurses" but exceptional. As a DAISY Award Honoree myself, I am compelled to nominate my coworkers, one of them being Josi Greene for their extraordinary kindness, compassion, and integrity in taking care of this family in need.
