My stay in the hospital was for about a month. During my stay there was one nurse who shined above the rest. This form asks for at least one ICARE principle. My Nurse Josie demonstrates them all.
Integrity: Her integrity with both myself and my wife were exemplary. She explained what was happening clearly and thoroughly in terms we would understand.
Commitment: Her compassion and caring were unmatched. Her commitment to ensuring that I had the best care possible during this extremely traumatic time in my life. Without her compassionate commitment to my care some days would have been unbearable.
Advocacy: She was my voice on multiple occasions. She spoke up for me to the doctors when I felt that I was not being heard. She was incessant in how to get my computer access when I needed it.
Respect: She always touched me with the utmost respect. She made sure that I knew every decision concerning my treatment was my own and that no matter what decision I made it would be honored.
Excellence: I cannot express enough how her care was always of the highest quality. She always made it a priority to ensure that all my needs were met. The needs that could not be addressed on that shift she made sure they were taken care of in a timely manner. I was in her unit for over a month and every day she was assigned to me was a day of excellent care in every way. She went above and beyond on a daily basis.
She was a shining beacon of hope for me during this dark and vulnerable time of my life. She was supportive in discussing the upcoming change in my life due to my illness.
